Pearls
Pearls are often family heirlooms that take on great meaning with every successive generation. The beauty of pearls is that they can be designed to sit in many different settings and are both classical and modern. A strand of pearls used to be a ‘must-have’ for every woman and was often worn at special occasions. Strands of pearls can be either short or long; multiple strands or single strand. We offer the classical white pearl and also the newer Tahitian (black) pearl.
Birthstone Jewellery
Even though you may be purchasing a gift for a loved one in December, selecting a piece of jewellery with the person’s birthstone is always appropriate. At Odyssey Jewellery we have certain pre-made pieces with birthstones but we also do custom work where we are happy to work with you to incorporate a birthstone into a specially designed piece. Diamonds
Probably the most famed and fabled gemstone is the diamond, and for good reason. It is renowned for being the hardest substance on earth, it is durable and retains its sparkle long after most gemstones have dulled. Diamonds have been used since ancient times in pieces of jewellery and items that held great historical significance. In modern times the diamond has been used in engagement rings; in the late 1940s, the advertising agency for De Beers created the slogan ‘A Diamond is Forever’ and since then men have been buying a diamond when they ask a woman to marry them. Custom Designed Jewellery
One of the things we are most proud of at Odyssey Jewellery is that we do all of our work onsite – we do not send our jewellery out for repair, instead our onsite expert jewellers design and create every piece. Because we have onsite specialists, we can work with clients to create custom-designed pieces for Christmas. Some of our clients have an idea of what they want and come in with a sketch, others want a piece to match something in the persons’ current collection – whatever you are thinking of our jewellers can help you create a piece sure the thrill your loved one.
Repairing and Gifting a Family Heirloom
While we had not anticipated this – over the years some of the most thoughtful gifts have developed from a broken family heirloom. Because we have designers and expert jewellers on site, we have been able to work with families to repair necklaces, rings, bracelets and watches and return them to their original lustre. Family heirlooms, once forgotten but then given to a family member or friend often turn out to be the most meaningful gifts.
